Business Editors & Technology Writers
TIRAT CARMEL, Israel - (BUSINESS WIRE) - Aug. 10, 1999 - GateWave Enables Wireless Text or Voice Internet Access Utilizing Existing Internet Standards
PassCall Advanced Technologies, a newcomer to the Wireless Internet Middleware applications industry, today announced the beta release of its revolutionary GateWave server designed for Wireless Internet users.
GateWave is the first industry solution that supports every existing telephone standard and Internet site - all on one platform. Once fully integrated with Interactive Voice Response (IVR) systems (such as voice messaging), this advanced technology supplies a complete solution for voice or text browsing from normal cellular devices.
In addition, GateWave is the first platform that delivers Internet content to the complete array of current data systems and supports the Wireless Application Protocol (WAP). With its patent pending Internet Mobile Link (IML) technology, GateWave can intelligently convert any web site and personalize Internet content. Users can navigate the Internet by voice or by simple keystrokes on their phone. Furthermore, they can instantly retrieve customized pages like My Yahoo and immediately access personal stock prices, local weather or news.
Voice browsing is straightforward with GateWave. Users are able to navigate the system menu either by keystrokes or by voice commands. (e.g. press No. 1 for CNN, press No. 2 for ESPN, etc.). The voice browsing operates without any web site modifications and is fully on-line.
"We are pleased to present the first real wireless Internet solution that supports the existing content of the Internet. We have achieved our goal to deliver a full solution that can work smoothly with the existing standards," said Nicky Pappo, President and CEO of PassCall Advanced Technologies. "Our message to the wireless community is that they need not wait any longer for new standards. Passcall can deliver the entire Internet to any wireless phone by voice or by text--today."
GateWave will be available for shipment in October 1999. Currently, the beta version is being tested by several cellular providers.
